Open Day: Wednesdays, 10am-4pm

We may sometimes close early during winter months, any changes to our usual opening times of 10am-4pm will be posted on our Facebook page (link opens in new window).

We will be closed on Wednesday 24 December and Wednesday 31 December 2025.

Stonehill Community Garden welcomes people from all walks of life, everyone is welcome to join us.

We are currently working on an acre and a half of cultivated land, producing fruit, vegetables and eggs from our hens.

Open every Wednesday, 10am to 4pm, drop in for an hour or two or stay all day.
Volunteer and get involved, be closer to nature, learn and share skills, make friends.
Groups and individuals welcome.
Stonehill Community Garden offers groups or individuals the opportunity to get involved and learn about:
  • Growing food
  • Healthy eating
  • Foraging
  • Building
  • Community cooking
  • Nature identification and care
  • Working together
  • Looking after the chicken

Our aim is to bring people closer to nature and to share the joys of being outside and  gardening together. We hope it will be a place that will be beneficial to all people including those from disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds.

Why a community garden?
A community garden can:

  • build community – a sense of community develops through participation and common enterprise
  • reduce environmental impact – by reducing food miles and recycling waste
  • improve nutritional health – by increasing the consumption of fresh, organic, locally grown food
  • create opportunity – for skill-sharing, friendships and learning
  • create purposeful recreation – by getting people growing food and reconnecting them with nature

At our Harvest Supper in September 2025 old friends and new came together to eat delicious home made food, drink juice made from our own apples, learn about our garden and participate in a fun quiz.  Over 60 guests came, all the food was eaten and the sun even put in an appearance for us. We also had some alpacas from Stonehill Community Housing Group in attendance!
