As well as the usual planting, weeding, feeding and harvesting tasks we always have a few special projects on the go. In 2025 we restored and renovated one of our ponds, we replanted with native plants as this will help biodiversity. We particularly hope to attract dragonflies and mayflies.

We also put a new cover on one of our polytunnels as the old one had become ripped and sun damaged beyond repair. This was a major undertaking, volunteers had to dig a trench all the way round the polytunnel to bury the new cover and keep it secure. We chose a slightly opaque cover, this means the polytunnel stays a little cooler and we need to water less which is good because we are not on mains water and use harvested rainwater, it also means we are developing resilience for the increased extreme weather conditions of heat and drought caused by climate change.

2025 was a busy year for projects as we were also gifted a cabin by Anthea Norma-Taylor which will provide us with some much needed shelter during the cold and wet winter months. Volunteers dismantled it, moved it, rebuilt it, put new roof felt on and fitted guttering and drainpipes leading to an IBC for all important rainwater harvesting.
